The Good Shepherd Parish of Plumpton is a vibrant Catholic parish with over 13000 Catholic parishioners. It is proud to be one of the most multicultural parishes in the Parramatta diocese.
The Good Shepherd Parish was established back in 1970.
A new church was blessed by the Bishop Bede in 1988 and still stands tall today.
The community has grown and expanded over this time. Now, each Sunday Mass is delivered in Vietnamese to cater to the needs of our community. Other nationalities of people, including Maltese and Filipino, has enriched our parish greatly, all bonded by the same love and faith.
Teaching the word of the Lord has of course always been important to the parish.
The Good Shepherd Primary School was established in 1979 and is still in operation today.
In 1991, the parish was again blessed by the establishment of the St Francis Primary School, Glendenning.
This was soon followed by Clare High School, Hassall Grove, founded in 1994
The Good Shepherd Parish is administered by Capuchin Franciscan Friars, an order of Friars of the Catholic Church.
There are also three religious orders of nuns within the parish: the Ursulines, Marist Missionary Sisters and Franciscan Immaculatine Sisters.
Since its establishment back in 1970, the parish has been blessed with the presence and guidance of 10 wonderful Reverends and administrators, each contributing to the spiritual innovation and growth of the Parish we now share together today.
The Parish is survived through a variety of groups, made up of our wonderful parishioners. From those which undertake tasks with The Good Shepherd Church itself in order to facilitate our services, to those in the wider community which foster living with Gospel values, there are a range of groups for parishioners of all ages to join.
